Pinterest: How to Block Pinning from your Website

How do I keep people from pinning images on my website?

I’m not sure “WHY” you would want to do this, but if there is a need, there is a way…

No pinning allowed

Pinterest may be an Internet hit — especially with U.S. women and Facebook CEOs. But not all companies want to ride the pinboard wave of referral traffic.

Now Pinterest has released code for companies that want to block the pinning of content from their sites to personal pinboards.

Pinterest recently released the code in their help section, which companies can copy and paste into their websites, prompting a message with each pin attempt that states: “This site doesn’t allow pinning to Pinterest. Please contact the owner with any questions. Thanks for visiting!”

Watch the video.

Here is the page where you can get help from Pinterest.

Here is the code to use on your website to prevent pinning:

Mark Zuckerberg Joined Pinterest

Pinterest and Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg has a Pinterest account!

So what…????  He also has a Twitter account and Google + account.

In looking at both of these accounts, it doesn’t appear that he has done much with them.

Come on,,, he has 19 tweets!  I don’t like or use Twitter but have substantial more tweets!

Let’s look at his Pinterest profile.

So, we don’t care that Mark Zuckerberg has a Pinterest account. BUT we do care that Pinerest users spend a lot of time on Pinterest…  Look at the graphic below..

How to Use Pinterest – a Hack

How to Use Pinterest…

There are many things you can do with Pinterest.  We have already talked about a few but this post is for fun… At least for now.

There is a Pinterest hack that mashable explains:

Do you remember those awesome Facebook and Google+ profile hacks?

Well, Nick McGlynn, a creative Pinterest user, has done something similar on the new social service, “hacking” a Pinterest board to display one image sliced into nine sections.

Inspired by McGlynn, we have put together a super-simple, Photoshop-free how-to that demonstrates how you can “hack” your Pinterest boards. Have a read through our easy-peasy walkthrough. Link us in the comments to your Pinterest hacks and we’ll feature the best submissions in a forthcoming Mashable gallery.

I followed the steps on Mashable and made my own graphic:

Pinterest Image Hack

Here is a high level view of the steps. (To see step by step, go to the mashable article.)

  1. Get a square image
  2. Slice image into 9 images (3 x 3)
  3. Upload all 9 images to your new board

Have fun and let me know what you do with this.  I would love to see some of your created images.

Helping you define your roadmap to success,

Linda

Here are 5 SEO tips mentioned in this article:

  2. Board Titles – should be keyword focused
  3. Link to your website
  4. Use keywords in description

This article on Pinterest had a lot of interesting insights which is why I pinned it to one of my boards!
